- The duration of the M.Sc. courses is 3 semesters (18 months), including the preparation and submission of the final dissertation.
- The courses are hybrid and are provided 12 hours/week on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday.
- The M.Sc. courses and dissertation are delivered in Greek. The M.Sc. program comprises 4 mandatory courses per each semester (13 weeks) of total 30 ECTS. The last semester is dedicated to dissertation preparation, which also is equivalent to 30 ECTS.
- The syllabus is constructed in a manner that provides practical implementation of the theoretical part through laboratory courses, case studies and projects.
- One of the advantageous characteristics of the specific M.Sc. program is the direct connection to the cosmetic industry, wherein cosmetic market experts such as Apivita, Henkel and QACS Lab provide lectures within the courses. Also, the President of Hellenic Industrial Property Academy (HIPA) will teach about Patents in Cosmetics.

2nd Semester: Cosmetic Product Design

KX5 | NANOMATERIALS IN COSMETICS The course is divided into three (3) distinct sections: -Nanomaterials. The objective of the course is to familiarize the student with the basic concepts and phenomena that govern the nanoscale, the categories of nanomaterials and their respective properties. The course aims to enable the student to apply nanomaterials synthesis processes taking into account modern applications and to be able to apply the ways of their characterization. Special emphasis is given to the applications of nanomaterials in the cosmetics industry, as well as the advantages of nanoscale ingredients compared to conventional cosmetic ingredients. -Nanomaterials Safety Assessment: ISO in Cosmetics Production. As a guarantee of their safety, cosmetic products placed on the market should be produced in accordance with good manufacturing practice. Based on the current legislation (the new European Regulation on Cosmetic Products 1223/2009/ER), students will be taught all the applicable provisions and procedures for the proper manufacture of cosmetic products in accordance with ISO 22716. -Nanomaterials Safety Assessment: A Guide to Nanomaterials (2019). The European Commission updated existing guidance on nanomaterials in cosmetics with the 2019 Guidance on “Safety Assessment of Nanomaterials in Cosmetics”, with the assistance of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS/1611/19). The SCCS provides guidance from industry to public authorities to ensure compliance with ER 1223/2009, on the safety assessment of NMs intended for use as cosmetic ingredients. Students will be able to carry out safety assessment on nanomaterials based on the above directive. |

KX8 | ADVANCED ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND DIGITAL MARKETING IN COSMETIC INDUSTRY The aim of the course is to familiarize students with management, basic finance and accounting as well as the use of the internet and the web for the organization of the business and promotion of cosmetic products. The basic principles of organization and business management in the cosmetic industry will be presented and developed and then students will be taught project evaluation using financial tools such as, among others, payback method and Net Present Value, all of which will be modeled and executed using Excel. Finally, the internet, the World Wide Web and their potentials will be presented; related to cosmetics. The design and organization of the website and its promotion through the internet will be the main objective of this module. Concepts such as website design, web programming languages such as HTML, Javascript, CSS, Java, Python, SQL, PHP, will be introduced to students and they will become familiar with their benefits. Digital marketing will then be developed, spearheading the efficient design and construction of the website, its organization and optimization for easy promotion and search engines. |
